My developments continue with revisiting the 'glamourous' side to my project. Experimenting with looking at two sides did not seem to fit together, therefore, I have decided to continue with these compositions and push the message of a certain stereotype further. I intend to illustrate the stereotype using my photography, which therefore create a series.

For these compositions, I included my dog, Alfie. A dog is commonly known as an animal which is associated with home life. I incorporated this within my compositions to enhance the message of a stereotypical woman. I held Alfie in my hands as if multitasking yet my interest is entirely on the dog not the cooking. I appear bored and distracted as if to portray I am not committed to baking. |
Next, are compositions where I appear the be pulling a handbag out from the oven. This is quite extreme, however is illustrating the fact that I am portraying a woman who can't and won't bake. It also can suggest that my mind is clearly elsewhere therefore I am more interested in being glamorous than being in the kitchen. |
Another composition, I sat on the counter top taking inspiration from Aldridge and my previous experiments, and I appear to be shaving my legs on the surface. This is a clear indication of carelessness as it is not very sanitary, nor would you find any woman doing this. I have chosen to portray this to emphasise the stereotype. I appear to clearly be more interested in my appearance than the setting that I am in. |
Lastly, I noticed that the oven within my flat had a reflective surface. I found this to be beneficial for these compositions as I am using the reflection as a mirror. Throughout these compositions, I appear to be using kitchen appliances for the wrong reasons which link to the stereotype. I have also experimented with the different poses I am doing to create a 'sexy' style. Similarily to Aldridge, the angles that I have experimented with will vary within my final piece. |
