Development Photographs 4

Reshoot-
I decided to reshoot one of my first developments. I wanted to choose the angle of looking down onto the subject. This is to reflect the stereotype in that people look down upon women. I expanded on my poses by adding a slight cheeky side. This is to emphasise the womanly character.

Development of idea-
To expand on the idea of reflecting gender stereotypes- I thought about creating compositions which reflect the opposite. I decided to dress in a less flattering dress with an apron wrapped tightly around my body- my makeup was non existent and I wiped my eyes to make myself look tired. I then created order within some props. This brings in my photographer Carl Kleiner and also my previous experiments within OCD. These compositions reflect the typical housewife- the complete opposite of my previous shoots. It suggests that sacrifices are made. The woman does not have time to do everything within the household and have a perfect social life. These experiments show this to a more extreme level as I am shown to be worn out, however, I have merely captured what women feel.

Perfection can only be achieved unless you make sacrifices. I believe that just being a female shouldn't be a sacrifice. We shouldn't be 'expected' to do things and neither should a man. I believe that a woman should do what she wants and when she wants instead of being pressured into becoming a housewife.

Overall, I feel that these composition reflect the message I want to put across well, however, I don't feel that they are as strong as my previous experiments. The lighting I have used is natural and I have desaturated the photographs slightly to reflect the difference between the two shoots.
Moving forward, I feel that I can become more creative by elaborating on one side rather than two.
